What This Site is About: Do you keep receiving junk mail trying to sell you books on the latest cures for every ailment going? Have you ever thought whether this advice is already widely known. It is very unlikely the book they are trying to sell contains any new information. I have a keen interest in using natural remedies and have had years of experience in using herbs and homeopathy. I suffered from poor health for many years, but have found through research and experience how to control my asthma. My acquired knowledge covers a wide range of health conditions and I would like to share it with you and to hear about the knowledge you have gained from your experiences. There are very few websites offering free health and fitness advice based on natural remedies. You will find many commercial sites and people claiming to be medical experts, but their main interest is selling a product. There are also many good forums around, but their topics are here today gone tomorrow. The Apothecary will be an evolving library of health advice with contributions taken directly from the interactive forum. The latest piece of junk mail to hit my mat exclaims "Proven natural treatments the medical establishment won't let you have". It's a great sales pitch but I don't want this site to be that controversial. What I'm after is free health and fitness advice that may offer some relief to people suffering from niggling annoying health problems, holding them back from fully enjoying life. If we also come across "cures" for some chronic conditions so much the better! The advice shown on this site will have been researched by me beforehand in an attempt to give you a full picture. I will try to present any scientific information I find and will say if certain natural remedies are viewed with concern by scientists. There are concerns for example about the use of Kava Kava, because scientists believe some preparations can cause liver damage. Some people think the concerns are more representative of the pharmaceutical industry, worried about falling profits. However, science will not ignorantly stand in the way of me recommending remedies, when millions testify to their efficacy. I can vouch for homeopathy and just because science does not know why it works, other than saying it's all in the mind (strange that we didn't believe the doctor's tablets would work, but we convinced ourselves the little lactose tablets would), I will recommend when I have direct evidence that it does. Let's get the disclaimer in very early: Anyone suffering from a serious, or what they suspect to be a serious, health problem, should consult a qualified medical practitioner immediately. Any "recommendations" made on this site are made purely as helpful suggestions and you accept that they may not work for you. We all know from experience that what might work for one person may not necessarily work for someone else, but hopefully this site will be used by all in the spirit it is meant to convey. Glad to get that serious bit out of the way ;-)
Nice little headline grabbers, but do they do what they claim and have you got any better tips? Let me know by using the feedback form below, or by contributing to the forum. You can have as much or as little credit for the suggestion as you want, by that I mean you can use your real name or be plain anonymous. I really do want this to be an interactive site, so please feel free to start debates here. The forum site is provided free, which means Bravenet post adverts. Once this site takes off I will pay for the ad free version, unless someone can help me set up a forum now? I have set up a newsletter to keep visitors up to-date with developments on this site. I will respect your privacy and will not send you anything other than news about this site. Please sign up if you would like to receive site up-dates.
